十二這個數字在西洋歷史及中國歷史都是一個獨特有代表意義的數字，
中國有十二生肖，十二時辰；西洋希臘神話中有十二天神，海格力斯（Heracles)有十二考驗等！
可能源自一年平均有十二個月，週而復始的規律！
遠古代的日規已將日照時間分成十二等份，當時民生集中地中海沿岸，日夜時間相若！
故此一天便會分成二十四等份！初期發展的機械鐘都以雙十二(double twelve)鐘面顯示！
至於一小時又如何分成六十分鐘未找到文獻記載紀錄！
初時的鐘只有時針指示，報時準確度也不足，直到十六世紀才開始有分針指示！

2006 年My First Clock 1~INGRAHAM PARLOR CLOCK
Just arrived today!!!
Share my first Picture :P
They are going to get the fitness test.
Picture took at ~1140. It is going to gong at 1200 with twelve gongs.
Next will be one and two gongs.
Also with one gong when half hours.
Papper Dial:') not expected

Inside places. Door with ugly repaired and some wires bended!:')
Look at the pengulum and the key. Dust inside!:')
Gong and hammer not in right place and needed adjust:')
Seller said 1886 and the movement said July 02. May be 2002:')
That is all I got with happy bidding.
Now it sounds great after cleaning and adjusted!
Next is to keep the clock runs always!
Then keep the time!

A LONGCASE CLOCK INSTRUCTION

Glossary Of Terms
Hood: This is removable and covers the mechanism and dial. On the Oak clocks there are side panels which come off so as to gain access to the mechanism.
Trunk: This is the narrow or waisted section of the clock.
Base: The lower part of the clock, which, in some cases, has a Satinwood inlay, or small cupboard.
Dial (The face of the clock): Brass dial Brass coloured dial with Chapter Ring. Moon dial Moon moves through the twenty nine and half day lunar cycle - as one moon wanes the other waxes. Painted dial Hand painted dial depicting customer's own choice of photograph, water colour, postcard reproduced by our local artist.
Finials: These are ornaments placed on top of the hood and are produced in brass.
Chapter Ring: This ring has the numerals etched on it and is usually silver in colour to contrast with the brass of the dial.
Tempus Fugit: Latin for "Time flies" appears at the top of the dial and matches the Chapter Ring in silver colour.
Spandrels: These are found on each corner of the dial and in some cases the arch at the top. These are usually brass embossed.
Mechanism (Chimes): Westminster, St Michael and Whittington.The chimes can be silenced at night.
Key Wound: The clock is wound by inserting the key in the holes in the dial and turning.
Weight Driven: To wind the clock the weights are pulled to the top of the casing.
Pendulum: Shaft and brass pendulum bob with thread at bottom to adjust timing of clock.
Weights: These are lead and cased in brass shells. When facing the clock, these have the following functions from left to right: Strike, Hands, Chimes.

係時候將個鐘裝好了！

這種座鐘的玻璃圖案，係用來遮醜架！
因為入面空間有限，如果加個定時響鬧機芯，
個響鬧裝置機械會裝係下面！
法國鐘就比較多，個擺既有雕刻，
連後面塊板都有雕刻圖案，全透玻璃就可欣賞哂！正！:)
用木傢私清潔濟抹已很靚！
最後測試報告如下：
微調校正完成，同隻電子錶一齊報時 ！
8日鍊而家變成4日鍊 ！
要研究吓先再算！
玻璃片的木框內邊有的不正當的修理，
要想辦法改翻正！
《後記》
這幾天溫度驟降，凍到個鐘都停左！
冷縮熱漲使金屬桿彎曲角度變化！
結果要開鐘面調翻準個anchor角度，佢至行翻準！
其實Pendulum Clock 比 Spring-driven Clock 更加準確！

紅圈內的長桿受溫度影響，便使鐘擺與 anchor 的角度向右移動，escape wheel 對 pallet 左右動力不平均，鐘擺便會慢慢停下來！
邊學邊造，有些理論都是已往學生時代的基礎！
座鐘的結構比較簡單，部件又大，所以容易好多！
幾百年前的科學家，知識未必高得過現在的中學生！

2007年4月My First Clock ~“我不殺伯仁，伯仁因我而死” 加上續集 “火鳥重生”
“我不殺伯仁，伯仁因我而死”
寄來就嚇一跳，要等保險回覆，不過卻唔賠居多！超過幾十磅的大理石坐鐘！
今次個賣家包得好實，但卻被郵遞整爛卻借口多多！
而家真係好似去咗希臘觀光一樣！
未評估今次的難度，兩個Side piece完整，主座鐘個金頂完整，羅馬柱腳爆裂，神廟牆壁完整！
最后整個底座大理石全部碎裂！個機芯行 Balance Wheel 但係很舊！
人地都話唔寄咁遠，冇法啦！
鳳凰重生！花了不少工夫！
還有些少工聚，用完膠水，不能繼續！
機芯又要攪攪，相信很快完成！
雲石齊口斷裂的地方，主要用強力快干膠水，
原因係膠水薄，可盡量保持基座原貌！
石膏底座斷裂位置及所有內部接合位置，用熱溶膠加固！
因為以前砌puzzle砌得多，難度不算大！
只係側面一塊雲石角位粉碎了一大片，重想緊點修補！
主座鐘的神廟復修，初步成形！
17吋的闊度，13吋的高度，做成宏偉的效果！
金光閃爍的羅馬柱和金頂浮雕，又給人一種莊嚴的感覺！
兩個 side piece 的雕像由金屬鑄造，
一文一武，就好像我們中國傳統貼門神的佈置！
Side piece的佈局也很細緻！
文雕像面容英俊，頭戴桂冠，肩膀披著長袍，手拿著卷袖軸！
武士雕像面上留鬍鬚，背著盾牌，左腰佩劍，右手執著巨斧！
將機芯整理後，裝回主鐘座！
將機芯整理後，三件Clock set 回復原貌！
看看那支分針在動，NEW LIFE！
“我不殺伯仁，伯仁因我而死”
- Wow! Very Elegant!
- French or Italian three piece marble clock set.
- Greek Revival style.
- Burgundy/ brown and grey white veiny marble is awesome.
- Columns look to be polished plated brass.
- The capitols are awesome with relief molded mythical scenes.
- Clock is the centerpiece with two matching temples with cast metal Greek figures.
- Clock mechanism looks to be in working order, though no key. Has "MR" with a swallow mark on back.
- Clock front has original glass. Crackling on face, but no paint loss.
- All three pieces look to have been reinforced from the inside somewhere along the way.
- All three pieces are in VERY good condition with no cracking, chips or major dings in the marble. They are 100+ years old, so there is some wear but VERY little.
- One of the columns has a small crack in the reverse (please see the picks)
- Very sturdy and very heavy; three pieces together weigh 42 lbs unpacked.
- The clock measures 16 1/2" long x 12 3/8" tall x 5 1/8" deep.
- The side temples measure 5 5/8" wide x 10 7/8" tall x 4 3/16" deep.
寄來就嚇一跳，要等保險回覆，不過卻唔賠居多！超過幾十磅的大理石坐鐘！
